Llwyn Nwydog Farm and Holiday Cottages

Llwyn Nwydog Farm nestles in a quiet part of the Vale of Glamorgan near Cardiff, South Wales UK. Six stone cottages have been attractively and sympathetically converted to an exceptionally high standard from the 19th century and earlier farm buildings adjoining the owners' 16th century farmhouse. At the turn of the century Llwyn Nwydog Farm was one of the largest farms in the area, being over 100 acres. Now reduced in size to 78 acres, the farm has been preserved to provide pleasant walks through the moorland, woodland and meadows, which have not suffered from modern intensive farming. They remain unspoilt retaining many of their wild flowers, grasses, butterflies and wildlife. The farming activity now consists of a small flock of breeding Welsh mountain sheep, a few breeding Welsh Black cows, along with chickens and geese. Five acres of young native deciduous trees have also recently been planted. The grounds also provide ample opportunity for relaxation, picnics, sunbathing (weather permitting!), ball games and exploring. For the fisherman, a visit to the local Trout and Coarse Fishing Lakes next door could revive memories of the one that got away!

The cottages and farm house are accessed off the A4222 via a long private drive to the carpark which has more than adequate safe parking for our guests. As you approach the cottages, partly hidden behind the large Scot's Pines, you cannot fail to notice the stunning view of the mountains, which act as a back drop to Llwyn Nwydog. These are the gate way to the Welsh Valleys and the beautiful Brecon Beacons beyond. The enclosed grounds and long access drive also provide many of our guests with young children, the added comfort that they can enjoy the freedom of the grounds in relative safety. Around the courtyard the old farm buildings have been tastefully refurbished, with care and attention to detail, retaining many of the original features. Locally made pine furniture has been used throughout the cottages to compliment the soft funishings, this combined with the Welsh Tourist Boards' high specification, which includes fully fitted kitchens, gas central heating, colour television, video recorders and telephones, provide the modern comforts our guests require, whilst retaining the old charm of the converted farm buildings. Bed linen is provided in all cottages and a laundry room offers the facilities of washing machines and tumble driers.
